The government has proven to be the government of corruption
Statement by AKEL Spokesperson, Stefanos Stefanou
AKEL C.C. Press Office, 17th November 2020, Nicosia
There are two main conclusions that were documented yesterday in Parliament by the Auditor General during the discussion surrounding the his authority’s Budget.
- Firstly: “Since 2013, Cyprus’ rating has been falling steadily – in the World Bank Corruption Perceptions Index – and has reached its lowest point since this index was issued for Cyprus.”
- Secondly: “Cyprus, for the first time in its history, no longer adheres to the fundamental principles adopted by the United Nations as a measure to enhance accountability and transparency.”
In other words, the Anastasiades-DISY government has proven to be the government of corruption, a fact that has led the international ridiculing of our country. And it could not be otherwise from the moment that corruption in Cyprus finds a favorable climate and a fertile ground in the Anastasiades-DISY government’s policies and practices.
