The General Secretary of AKEL met with the new Ambassador of Greece

The General Secretary of the Central Committee of AKEL Stefanos Stephanou met today with the new Ambassador of Greece to Cyprus Ioannis Papameletiou, whom he congratulated on taking up his duties.

During the meeting there was an exchange of views on the current situation surrounding the Cyprus problem and concern was expressed about Turkey’s provocative actions. A common understanding was expressed with regards the effort to overcome the deadlock and resume negotiations with a view to reaching a solution on the basis of the Resolutions of the UN and the body of work of the talks that has been agreed.

It was agreed to continue the good communication and useful exchange of views.
