The British fighter jets on our island are a provocation against our people

The British bases are celebrating the arrival of Royal Air Force fighter jets to the Akrotiri bases today, which are part of the NATO plans for Eastern Europe and Ukraine.

This action constitutes a provocation by Britain against Cyprus and its people. Such actions create only dangers to the security of our homeland. AKEL calls on the government to send out a very clear message to the British government that it does not consent to the use of Cypriot territory for NATO’s aggressive plans.

The Cypriot people do not want our country to be involved in any way whatsoever in the dangerous tension unfolding in Eastern Europe and NATO’s war-mongering plans and in its plans to encircle Russia, just as our people do not want the foreign bases on the territory of our island.
