The Attorney General’s Office is exposed again

The clash between the Attorney General’s Office and the Anti-Corruption Authority in connection with the case of a police officer exposes once again the leadership of the Attorney General’s Office and creates the sense of a cover-up in society.
The handling of this case by the Attorney General’s Office adds to the conflict of interest over the golden passports scheme, given that the Attorney General and the Assistant Attorney General were Ministers in the Anastasiades government. It also adds to the murky black SPY van case where the Israeli agent was cleared of any charges. It also comes after the court decision in the Thanasis case which again exposed the prosecution for its handling of the case.
All of this has severely undermined public confidence in the Attorney General’s Office. President Christodoulides and his government must realize this problem that is daily harming in one way or another the quality of the rule of law in our country.
