The statements by the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community Mustafa Akinci are a reply to a large section of Greek Cypriots as well who are insisting that all Turkish Cypriots are the same, without differentiating whether they agree with what Turkey is doing.
Mustafa Akinci’s reaction was a reaction of a man with human sensitivities. A person could not but react differently to what Turkey is doing in Syria today. Turkey is committing a huge crime not only against the Kurds of Syria, but also against humanity as a whole. It is unacceptable in the 21st century that someone behaves like Mr. Erdogan…
The voice coming from Mr. Akinci’s soul conveys the message that if this world is to have a future it must operate on a completely different basis than today.
The longer time passes by, the more is Turkey’s control exerted over Turkish Cypriots. It is our duty to support the voices and actions of Turkish Cypriots aiming at enhancing the cooperation between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots.
