Russian Federation’s more active involvement in the efforts to find a solution necessary

AKEL continues to consider the support rendered by the Russian Federation towards the Cypriot people’s struggle for liberation from the Turkish occupation and for the reunification of our country and people as of decisive importance. Furthermore, AKEL considers it necessary to seek the Russian Federation’s more active involvement in the efforts to find a solution, given that the consistency of the friendly country to principled positions on the Cyprus problem will continue to defend the Republic of Cyprus and our side from possible hostile actions by Ankara’s allies. In conclusion, we welcome the complete turnaround in policy of those political forces that until yesterday were insisting on a pro-Western policy and demanded our country’s accession to NATO and its branches.
