Let people judge whether the DISY leadership is characterized by principles or opportunism

Statement of Georgos Loucaides, AKEL C.C. Spokesperson

AKEL C.C. Press Office, 14th January 2016, Nicosia

vouli law The President of the governing DISY party Mr. Averof Neophytou, speaking in a morning radio program, made two serious admissions in his attempt to conceal characteristic features of the leadership and government of the DISY party, such as authoritarianism and arrogance.

The first public admission is that the DISY party should really have imposed disciplinary measures against MP’s breaking the law but didn’t do so.

The second admission, whatever the degree of honesty involved, is that the DISY party tolerates and will continue to tolerate unlawful acts of its Members of Parliament in order not to lose the marginal parliamentary majority it has with the Democratic Party DIKO for the imposition of punishing and anti-social measures.

We leave the people to judge themselves the leadership of DISY party, as we leave people to reply to the question as to whether the position of the DISY leadership is characterized by principles or by opportunism.
