Government’s 3 years of inaction on tax evasion exposed

The leadership of the governing DISY party celebrates the work of the Government regarding the stamping out of tax evasion, tax avoidance and the non-collection of uncollected taxes. Given that paradoxically it appears to feel particularly self-confident on the issue and since the government refuses to answer a relevant parliamentary question we submitted two months ago, we ask the leadership of DISY and await its reply:

– In the three years you have been in government what have you done exactly to fight this unacceptable phenomenon of tax evasion and above what are the results of your actions?

– Of the 22 or so measures which were promoted by the previous Christofias government to combat tax evasion, why have you to this day refused to promote the three most important ones relating to legal persons, such as the apportioning the personal liability of directors, the prohibition of the separation of the last immovable property and the banning of submitting capital profits?

– Why did you do nothing about the tax audit of all those who took tens of millions of Euros out of Cyprus before the haircut on bank deposits imposed by your government?

– Why didn’t you seek cooperation with Hervé Falciani concerning the Lagarde List, as other governments did and as we as AKEL had suggested from the beginning?
