On the removal of Cuba from the US “terrorist list”
The removal of Cuba from the United States’ so-called “list of state sponsors of terrorism” is a step in the right direction, given that this list is drawn up arbitrarily and with obvious intentions. Any cancellation of this decision by the Trump incoming administration, as announced by the new Secretary of State, would be a setback.
At the same time, of course, the struggle to implement the successive UN General Assembly Resolutions calling for an end to the financial, commercial and economic blockade of Cuba by the United States continues. It should be noted that in last October’s vote, 187 states called for an end to the blockade and only the US and Israel opposed it. AKEL has been and will be in solidarity with the struggle to end the blockade, the economic war and foreign intervention against Cuba and its people.
