On AKEL Nicosia-Kyrenia District‘s initiative for voluntary brigade work in the Troodos forest

Around 60 volunteers from the AKEL Nicosia-Kyrenia District Organization, and the organizations of the People’s Movement of AKEL, EDON, PEO and POGO, today created anticorrosive areas in the forest of Troodos. We undertook this initiative to create symbolically and in practice the conditions for the ecological restoration of the boundless destruction caused by the unprecedented environmental disaster. We want to convey the message that through the work of all of us we can build on the ruins of the disaster.

This initiative is dedicated to the memory of the two forest fire fighters who so unjustly lost their lives during the recent devastating fire. The initiatives in the region of Solias will continue on Sunday 25th September with the organization of a mass cultural festival.
