AKEL strongly denounces government announcements

“Pafos is also in Cyprus, Mr. President,” the AKEL Paphos District Organisation stressed in a statement it issued on the government’s announcements on mountain communities.

“Not even a single project for the mountainous communities was announced yesterday by the President of the Republic within the context of the revitalisation of the mountain communities,” the AKEL statement pointed out, demanding an answer as to why the government has treated so the mountainous communities of the Pafos district.

The statement of AKEL Pafos District Organisation in full:

“Pafos is in Cyprus too, Mr. President!

Not even a single project for the mountainous areas of Pafos was announced yesterday by the President of the Republic within the context of the government’s scheme for the revitalisation of the mountain communities.

Did the government and the ruling DISY party miss the fact that the district of Pafos lies is within the Republic of Cyprus? Why such treatment for the mountain communities of the Pafos district? Why this double standards policy?

We want answers with practical actions, not pre-election fiestas with grandiose declarations that ignore a large section of our people.”
