Memoranda policies will continue even after the Memorandum

President Anastasiades in his intervention yesterday at the «Economist» conference spoke again about the government’s “success story” in the economy and about a new era of growth and prosperity coming to Cyprus…

In fact, the Anastasiades-DISY party government can justifiably be credited with a history of ensuring success for the policies it has imposed in favour of big private interests.

However this government “success story” in favor of a handful of privileged groups is still being written in the story of misery and ongoing collective punishment of the majority of the people, less or not privileged at all, by our fellow citizens who continue to suffer from the government’s austerity policies.

As more “Troikaist” than the Troika itself and with their dogmatic obsession with their Memoranda ideology, the government and ruling forces are declaring the continuation of the Memoranda policies of suffering and the collective punishment of our people even after the 16th March when the borrowing from the Troika officially ends. This is the supposed new era of prosperity that they are promising and to which they pledge to enforce!

This is just like almost three years ago when they came to power and pledged that they will bring the “Spring”. The result was that citizens, working people, households and small/medium sized businesses experienced at first hand a prolonged heavy winter and life for them continues to evolve from bad to worse.
