7 December 2021, AKEL C.C. Press Office, Nicosia

The General Secretary of the C.C. of AKEL Stefanos Stefanou met today with a delegation from the Branch of the employees in the Foreign Affairs Ministry, which outlined the problems facing the Branch.

Stefanos Stefanou underlined the importance of the Foreign Affairs Ministry as a key sector in addressing the ongoing provocative actions due to the Turkish occupation, but also in projecting Cyprus as a member of the international community working for the prevalence of international law and peace, as well as just development.

For the Foreign Affairs Ministry to fulfill this role, the problems that are plaguing the Branch must be adequately addressed and resolved.  Within this context, the AKEL-Left-New Forces MP’s in the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee have registered the relevant issue for debate.

The AKEL delegation also included the member of the Secretariat and the Political Bureau of AKEL, MP Aristos Damianou, and the Head of the International Relations and European Policy Department and member of the C.C. Vera Polycarpou.
