Letter to the Minister of Education on the payment of the one-time allowance to working people in the field of Culture

AKEL-Left-New Forces Parliamentary Representative Yiorgos Loucaides sent a letter today to the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth, Mr. Prodromos Prodromou, on the payment of a one-time allowance to working people in the field of Culture.

The letter states:

“I have received many complaints from artists-cultural creators, working people employed in general in the field of culture for the very long delay observed in the payment of the One-Time Support Allowance due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. I want to remind you that AKEL, has repeatedly expressed its displeasure with the very low amount of the allowance, as well as with the delay in its payment.

As you know very well, a large number of working people engaged in the field of culture were already facing severe financial problems, which the Covid-19 crisis has exacerbated further. As a result of the above, the very survival of a large number of working people in culture is raised.

We expect that measures will be taken immediately to promote the payment of the allowance, while at the same time ways to further support cultural creation must be studied.”
