Legislative proposal by AKEL to enshrine the Right to Be Forgotten

20 October 2022, AKEL C.C. Press Office, Nicosia

Responding to a perfectly fair demand of society and drawing on international and European experience, AKEL has today submitted to Parliament a legislative proposal for the establishment of the Right to Be Forgotten, which concerns persons with cancer experience.

With this regulation, the Right to Be Forgotten is enshrined for persons with cancer experience, so that they can continue their lives without discrimination and with access to insurance coverage. The intention is for legislation to be approved in order so that this right is guaranteed also vis-à-vis the banking sector.

The AKEL Parliamentary Group will request, without further delay, that the debate on the proposal for a law in the Parliamentary Finance Committee begins. At the same time, AKEL declares its readiness to enrich the proposal through the debate.
