Israel’s premeditated attack on Rafah a new barbaric action

 

The US and EU are encouraging Netanyahu

The State of Israel is proceeding with its premeditated attack on Rafah which is set to multiply the casualties and humanitarian devastation to which the Palestinians of the Gaza Strip are subjected to. The Netanyahu government’s rejection of the ceasefire proposals by Egypt and Qatar confirms that the genocide that Israel has been committing for seven months is a deliberate strategy that seeks to extend its occupation of the Palestinian territories.

Before the eyes of the international community, an unprecedented barbarity in the post-war annals of humanity is unfolding unhindered, as the USA and the European Union continue to support and encourage the State of Israel. The silence of the Christodoulides government and the majority of the country’s political forces on the Israeli atrocities being committed is tantamount to supporting the arch murderer Netanyahu and condoning the mass murders of civilians and children that are taking place right next to us.

We reiterate that the least the EU should have done long ago would have been the imposition of sanctions and an arms embargo on the State of Israel, as well as to suspend the EU-Israel Association Agreement given that the Israeli government is violating its core provisions on human rights.

AKEL expresses its solidarity with the students in dozens of Universities across the United States of America and Europe who, against the state repression being exerted, are resisting the ongoing genocide and the long-standing policy of Western states to arm and support Israel.

At the same time, AKEL calls on the Cypriot people – the working people, the youth, every peace-loving Cypriot – to join the millions of people around the world who, in these critical moments humanity is going through, are standing on the side of peace, justice and humanity.
