International hospital in Cyprus to treat the wounded from Lebanon
AKEL C.C. Press Office, 5th August 2020, Nicosia
The great tragedy that has struck the Lebanese people follows the extremely difficult economic situation that our neighboring state is going through. In addition to expressing our full solidarity, we must immediately examine ways in which we can help in the face of this catastrophe.
AKEL expresses its readiness to contribute to any such effort. We are looking into different ways in which we can support those stricken. Within this framework, we address an appeal to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus to look into whether there is a need and at the same time the possibility of operating an international hospital in Cyprus to treat the wounded, with the help and assistance of the European Union and/or the United Nations.
