Government foreclosures drive will have a domino effect

Unfortunately for some time the procedures for the beginning and completion of the foreclosures of properties are underway. Following the recent statements made by the CEO of the Bank of Cyprus, those circles and forces headed by the leadership of the governing DISY party, who were telling us that AKEL was scaremongering, must apologize. The impact will have a domino effect. Apart from the obvious, that is to say small-debtors will be made homeless or lose their small business premise, additional damage is provoked by the selling-off of our country’s wealth to large private interests, and probably greedy investment hedge funds.

The actions of the Anastasiades – DISY party government that led to the curbing of the net of protection are well-known, which on AKEL’s initiative, was incorporated in the government bill on foreclosures. As AKEL, we will continue our efforts, since the goal of protecting the primary family home and small business premises is a minimum requirement for those fellow citizens of ours who have been plunged into poverty as a result of the robbery committed by the banks and the government’s policies.
