Event to pay tribute to Yiorgos Politechnis from Lefkoniko Statement by AKEL Famagusta District Party Organisation

Famagusta paid the heaviest price for the murders committed during the period 1957-1962 when the fascist terror unleashed by Grivas targeted, attacked, brutally beat, wounded and murdered members and militants of the Left.
The AKEL Famagusta District Committee decided that efforts and actions should be made to repair all the graves of our comrades in the occupied areas, most of which are in a very bad condition, as well as the organisation of annual organized visits to the graves of our heroes, both in free and occupied territories, in rotation, so that we can contribute in a practical way towards the preservation of their memory.
In this context, on Friday 7th August at 6:30 pm we will lay flowers and laurels in the Ayios Georgios cemetery in Larnaca at the grave of comrade Yiorgos Politechnis from the occupied village of Lefkoniko, who was murdered on 8th August 1958 by the masked men of Grivas.
