EU decisions destroyed Cyprus economy
Statement of Georgos Loucaides, AKEL C.C. Press Office Spokesperson
AKEL C.C. Press Office, 7th May 2014, Nicosia
The former Governor of the European Central Bank, Jean Claude Trichet, as well as the rest of the officials of Brussels, in their weakness to support the catastrophic “therapy” they imposed on the Cyprus economy and the Cypriot people, are attempting to shift their own responsibilities for the decisions taken in March 2013 on to the Cypriot authorities.
Certainly President Anastasiades and the political parties that supported him, bear serious responsibilities for the handling of and their consent to the destructive “treatment” that was imposed on us.
However, those principally to blame for the “therapy”, which in one night destroyed the economic model of Cyprus, are none other than the EU institutional bodies that were implementing pre-determined decisions of Merkel, Schäuble and their close allies in the European Union.
The fact that Merkel, Schäuble and the Troika found willing and cooperative friends in Cyprus, so that they could impose their designs at the expense of the Cypriot people, in no way does it relieve them of their horrendous responsibilities.
