End tolerance towards the Israeli regime
As if the far-right Israeli regime’s most recent act of piracy in international waters near Cyprus against the flotilla carrying humanitarian aid to besieged Gaza was not enough, humanity was appalled seeing the fascist Minister Ben Gvir shamelessly “advertising” the inhumane treatment of the activists he had abducted.
A number of governments, including of EU member-states, have denounced this degrading treatment, but that is not enough. It is long overdue to end tolerance toward Israel and its impunity for the massive and ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people. While condemning the criminal treatment of the abducted, they should emphasise that thousands of Palestinians, including women, children, and elderly, have been subjected to even worse torture for years in Israel’s dungeons.
AKEL condemns with revulsion also this latest action by Netanyahu’s far-right government and demands the immediate release of all hostages as well as all Palestinian political prisoners. It demands an end to the siege of Gaza, an end to ethnic cleansing and settlement policy, and above all, an end to the occupation of Palestine. The Christodoulides government must finally condemn the genocide and support the suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement.
