Cyprus must take immediate action on climate change
AKEL on the UN Climate Action Summit

The start of the proceedings of the United Nations summit on climate action did not begin with the best of omens.
The 27th Conference, which this year is taking place in Egypt, is of crucial importance as it will, to be brief, perhaps determine the future of the entire planet.
The war in Ukraine, soaring inflation and the energy crisis are key parameters of the current situation.
These challenges cannot, however, render climate change to be of secondary importance, which is showing us every day that it is developing right before us, through extreme weather conditions, droughts and refugees and the displacement of people as a result of the effects of climate change.
Our country will not be unaffected by all these changes. After all, all the studies that are being carried out reveal that the Mediterranean countries are at high risk.
Cyprus urgently needs to set in motion the implementation of schemes and plans so that it can adapt to climate change and invest in a more secure future for the citizens of our country. The ten-year Anastasiades-DISY government has failed. There is no other path other than bringing change.
