Congratulatory message of Andros Kyprianou, General Secretary of the C.C. of AKEL, to the newly elected President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro

The General Secretary of the C.C. of AKEL Andros Kyprianou sent a congratulatory message to the newly elected President of the BolivarianRepublic of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro for his victory in the Presidential elections held last Sunday in Venezuela. The main part of the letter follows:

 

“On behalf of the Central Committee of AKEL, I would like to congratulate you on your election as President of the BolivarianRepublic of Venezuela.

 

Firstly, we would like to state that AKEL fully recognizes the election result and the will of the Venezuelan people.

 

Furthermore, we believe that your election ensures that the socialist and pro-people’s reforms in Venezuela, which have been inherited from the governments of the late former President Hugo Chavez will be implemented further in the direction of serving the interests of the working people and the popular masses of the BolivarianRepublic of Venezuela. It also ensures that the peoples of Latin America and the world can still depend on Venezuela as an international power that prioritizes the interests of the peoples of the world against the strategies followed by the international imperialist centres.

 

As AKEL, we reaffirm our full solidarity with the progressive movement of Venezuela and the Venezuelan people in your struggle for a world of social progress, peace and democracy.

 

I wish you personally and the new government of Venezuela every success in your pursuit of your progressive goals. ”
