Another whole series of illegal actions and irregularities by the Anastasiades government in the mass sale of Cypriot passports
AKEL on the new report of the Audit Office
AKEL C.C. Press Office, 27th November 2020, Nicosia
A new report released by the Audit Office reveals another whole series of illegal actions and irregularities by the Anastasiades government in the mass sale of Cypriot passports.
One case concerns 18 persons and 9 of their family circle related to the investment of the casino and the second case concerns the naturalization of 64 persons related to a specific company. As it turns out yet again, the Council of Ministers of the Anastasiades-DISY government issued Cypriot passports without taking into account the laws and regulations in place, without the preconditions being met. In fact, the then Minister of Interior gave orders for specific applications to be examined as a matter of priority. The Report even mentions false certificates, fictitious purchases of real estate properties in these citizenships which were approved by the government as a result of which the state subsequently lost tax revenues amounting to millions of euros.
With what is recorded in the Auditor General’s Report, we fully understand why DISY immediately reacted negatively, trying to discredit it. This is precisely how the government ruling forces act. Whenever someone mentions wrong goings and texts, they immediately defame and denigrate him/her. We shall come back to the issue as soon as we studied the Report in detail.
