Anastasiades and his government must go – the only choice for real change is Stavros Malas
Statement by Christos Christofides, AKEL Political Bureau member
AKEL C.C. Press Office, 15th October 2017, Nicosia
Nicos Anastasiades is untrustworthy.
Today, citizens hear Nicos Anastasiades making all kinds of pledges and wonder: well, why should we trust a President who, five years ago, made pledges about so many things that he didn’t keep or did precisely the opposite?
Nicos Anastasiades is the President of the “haircut on bank deposits”, the flight of capital abroad before the “haircut” was imposed, the “excellent of the best” appointees and the President of “I pledge to…” He is the president of untrustworthiness.
Nicos Anastasiades is the president of the few and privileged; he is the president who did not do justice to the overwhelming majority of the people.
Nicos Anastasiades is the president where, during his term of office, the final partition of Cyprus has never ever been so close, at the same time as Turkey is acting uncontrollably and without any responsibilities being apportioned on it.
Nicos Anastasiades delivers at the end of his term the Cyprus problem in a tragic state.
Citizens want real change for the benefit of many, not for the privileged few.
Citizens want a choice of hope for a correct solution to the Cyprus problem and the lifting of the occupation and partition.
Nicos Anastasiades and his government must go.
Nicolas Papadopoulos, who supported Anastasiades throughout this period, cannot bring real change, but another version of the DISY-Anastasiades government.
The only choice for real change today is Stavros Malas.
