AKEL at the trial of Grigory Petrenko Moldova

int moldovaToday Georgos Loucaides, member of the Political Bureau of AKEL and AKEL MP, departed for Chisinau, the capital of Moldova, to attend the trial of Grigory Petrenko, former representative to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which will take place tomorrow Friday 26th February.

Grigory Petrenko was arrested at a protest organized against the government in his country on 6th September 2015, together with other activists. The motives of his arrest are purely political in an attempt by the government to silence opposition voices.

AKEL supports the termination of the political oppression in Moldova and the conducting of an impartial investigation of the specific case on the basis of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
