AKEL on the tragic events in Brussels

Statement of Andros Kyprianou, General Secretary of AKEL

AKEL C.C. Press Office, 22nd March 2016, Nicosia

int brussels attacks isisAs AKEL, we express our grief and condolences for the victims of the attacks in Belgium and express our sympathy and solidarity towards the Belgian people.

Unfortunately once again innocent people are paying with their blood, even with their own lives, for the fanaticism and bigotry. As determined as the tackling of these sick policies must be, equally necessary is the reversal of the causes which give birth to them: the bloody imperialist policies.

These are the policies that seek to interfere in the internal affairs of countries and to determine the fate of entire peoples. No matter how many measures may be taken against terrorism, no matter if rights may be restricted in the name of combatting it, terrorism will continue, unfortunately, to be fed by these policies.
