AKEL strongly condemns Israel’s new brutality
AKEL C.C. Press Office, 10th December 2014, Nicosia
A few hours ago Ziad Abu Ein the Cabinet Minister of the Palestine Authority and head of the Anti-Wall and Settlement Commission in the Palestinian Territories lost his life after being attacked by Israeli soldiers during a protest march in the occupied West Bank.
AKEL strongly condemns this new attack by the Israeli occupation forces against Palestinian protesters which is a continuation of the day-to-day brutalities committed by the Israeli soldiers and settlers against the Palestinian people. The colonization of the Palestinian Territories is in reality an extension of the barbaric Israeli occupation and Israeli’s means of making the two-state solution on the ground and the creation of an independent and viable Palestinian state unfeasible. This is the reason why it is encountering the fierce resistance of the Palestinian people and why the international community must in practice force Israel to abandon its colonisation policy and actions and to reverse its faits accomplis. The time has come for a comprehensive solution of the Palestinian problem with the creation of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, alongside Israel.
AKEL expresses its grief and extends its condolences to the family of Ziad Abu Ein, the Palestinian National Authority and to the whole of the people of Palestine. We declare once again our solidarity with the heroic Palestinian people and its just struggle.
