AKEL salutes Cypriot working people’s movement strong messages

AKEL welcomes the decisions approved by the All-Cyprus Trade Union Forum. In their joint declaration issued today, the member organizations of the All-Cyprus Trade Union Forum send out strong positive signals of determination to resolve the Cyprus problem and reunification of our country. The messages sent are of particular importance given that the 18 trade union organizations of both communities, representing the whole of the working people of Cyprus, stand for the ordinary working man and woman of labour.
Such initiatives can only have a positive impact on the efforts for a positive outcome of the negotiations. The demand for a single labour relations and social security system expressed by the All-Cyprus Trade Union Forum is an important step in the right direction. A possible solution of the Cyprus problem has better prospects if it is ensured that social struggles will bring the two communities together.
