AKEL sadly bids farewell to comrade Yiannakis Skordis

Yiannakis Skordis served as Mayor of occupied Famagusta, President of the Cyprus Peace Council, member of the Central Committee of AKEL, President of the Association of Civil Engineers and Architects of Cyprus and of the Town Planning Council.

Yiannakis Skordis was a multifaceted personality, a distinguished scientist and at the same time a militant fighter for the rights of Cyprus and its people, for the return of Famagusta to its lawful inhabitants and the reunification of our homeland. He was a consistent internationalist and fighter for peace with pioneering activity in the anti-war movement in Cyprus.

AKEL bids farewell to comrade Yiannakis Skordis and expresses its appreciation for his contribution to the People’s Movement of the Left and the Cypriot people. We express our sincere condolences to his wife and children.
