AKEL on the Audit Service’s report on the evaluation of the Advisοrs to the President of the Republic and the Government

12 July 2023, AKEL C.C. Press Office, Nicosia

The conclusion to be drawn from the various irregularities identified by the Audit Service in relation to the appointments of Advisοrs to the President of the Republic and members of the Government is that while the tenants of the Presidential Palace have changed, the old party mentality unfortunately continues.

While it was obvious and self-evident that certain appointments could not and should not have been made, the Presidency and the Government went ahead and they are still making excuses even to this day and not restoring order.

Before the presidential election, Mr. Christodoulides promised change and a rupture with the logic of clientelism/cronyism and non-meritocracy, raising the bar of expectations. Unfortunately, on this issue too, he is failing the test he himself set.
