AKEL meets delegation from the Cyprus Economy and Competitiveness Council
AKEL: Strategy on the economy needs to be redefined immediately

An AKEL delegation headed by AKEL C.C. Spokesperson and MP Stefanos Stefanou, AKEL MP Andros Kafkalias, the Head of AKEL’s Economic Studies Bureau Charis Polycarpou and the member of the Economic Studies Bureau of AKEL Elena Pikoula had a meeting today with a delegation from the Cyprus Economy and Competitiveness Council headed by its President Takis Clerides and Council members Andreas Assiotis and Pavlos Fotiades at the offices of the C.C. of AKEL.
During the meeting, the representatives of the Council briefed the delegation of AKEL on the work being done within the framework of the elaboration of the new long-term strategy for the sustainable development of the Cyprus economy. So far, the first phase of the project has been completed, which involved assessing the current developmental model of the Cyprus economy. The second phase is underway to identify existing and highlight new areas that can contribute to the formulation of a new sustainable developmental model.
AKEL stressed the urgent need to immediately redefine our strategy on the economy that should aim at a fairer distribution of wealth, the reduction of social inequalities, increasing production and improving the standard of living of society, creating conditions for dignified work.
Furthermore, AKEL underlined its will to contribute and cooperate towards the elaboration of the new long-term strategy of the Cyprus Economy.
