AKEL meeting with PASYDY

A meeting took place today between an AKEL delegation headed by the General Secretary of the Central Committee of AKEL Stefanos Stefanou and a delegation of the Pancyprian Public Servants’ Trade Union (PASYDY) at the AKEL Central Committee offices.

During the meeting, issues of concern to PASYDY were discussed, focusing on the forthcoming start of the debate on the Civil Service Reform. The bills will be examined at the next session of the Parliamentary Finance and Budget Committee.

On AKEL’s part, the need to have a meaningful consultation with all involved parties was stressed on all the bills related to this reform.

Stefanos Stefanou stressed that AKEL is in favour of a real reform of the Civil Service, through with the necessary modernisation of government services with the primary objective of serving citizens. At the same time, the General Secretary of AKEL underlined the necessity of respecting the labour rights of public sector workers.

The AKEL delegation during the meeting was also attended by Political Bureau member and MP Aristos Damianou and AKEL Central Organisational Secretary Haris Karamanos.
