AKEL expresses its support to the peace procedure and the ending of the Syrian civil war

 

AKEL expresses its support to the peace procedure which has begun with the Geneva-2 Conference in Switzerland.

It states the position that the foreign interventions and civil war bloodshed must end immediately through a balanced and genuinely democratic solution that will enable the people of Syria to manage its future. The international community must focus its efforts in this direction in order to increase the possibilities for a successful outcome at the face-to-face talks which could potentially start on Friday. The non-invitation of certain sides to the Conference, as well as the continuation of the warfare during the duration of the talks do not contribute positively towards the successful outcome of the conference.
