AKEL Easter message to the Cypriot people

AKEL wishes all the Cypriot people good health and prosperity and days of joy and rest during the Easter holidays. We send a special message to all the workers of our country who are obliged to be at work and on shifts during these festive days in essential services, hospitals, catering and retail.

During such times, the millions of people around the world who are confronted with war, destruction and displacement as refugees cannot escape our thoughts. In particular, the genocide being committed by Israel against the Palestinians in our neighbouring Gaza must be an outrage to every person on the planet. At the same time, let us all bear in mind the thousands of households and thousands of our fellow citizens who are suffering from poverty, economic uncertainty and poverty.

The Resurrection symbolizes the victory of life over darkness and injustice and as such encapsulates the hope in the face of every personal and collective ordeal, the hope that sufferings are overcome through solidarity, humanity and struggle.

Expressing this hope, AKEL wishes everyone a Happy Easter, Peace and love for all the world.
