AKEL denounces Erdogan advisor’s unacceptable statements

Statement by Stefanos Stefanou, AKEL C.C. Press Spokesperson

AKEL C.C. Press Office, 27th April 2017, Nicosia

cpr cyprusThe statements made by Yigit Bulut, one of the advisors of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, that occupied Cyprus is “a province of mainland Turkey” are condemnable and unacceptable.

We welcome the fact that the Turkish Cypriot leader and other politicians and parties in the occupied territories have denounced this specific statement.

All those forces and circles who do not perceive the dangers arising from of the non-solution of the Cyprus problem must reflect on this specific statement. The only way to render Turkey’s goals unattainable is through negotiations to achieve a solution that will liberate and reunite Cyprus and its people within the framework of a bicommunal, bizonal federation.
