AKEL denounces US action in occupied areas

AKEL denounces the holding of a reception by the United States embassy in the occupied territories, with the military officials of the Turkish occupation forces as invited guests.
The US embassy, as well as the US government in general, must be extremely careful in their actions, given that besides a permanent member of the UN Security Council that must respect International Law and the resolutions and decisions of the United Nations itself, it is a country with very serious responsibilities for the creation and perpetuation of the Cyprus problem, for which Richard Holbrooke (former US Assistant Secretary of State and Special envoy to Cyprus) had apologized in public.
