AKEL congratulatory letter to newly elected President of CTP

The General Secretary of the CC AKEL Andros Kyprianou sent a congratulatory letter to the newly elected President of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Tufan Erhürman. Below the main part of the letter.
“I would like to convey to you the warmest congratulations of the C.C. of AKEL and myself for the assumption of the duties of President of CTP and to wish you every success in your work. We also convey our congratulations to the members of the newly elected Central Council of CTP.
Without doubt you are taking on your new responsibilities at a crucial phase of political developments for our common homeland. I am sure that the close long-standing contacts and cooperation between our two parties will continue, especially in the period we are going through.
The historical responsibility of both of our parties is indisputable to keep the flame in the hearts of our people alight for the struggle for peace and reunification. Our responsibility is to ensure that the solution of the Cyprus problem will first and above all serve the interests of Cypriots than any other third parties, respecting the sensitivities and concerns of each community. Let the basic principles of the solution of the Cyprus problem, the timeless struggles of our parties, the Christofias-Talat convergences become the legacy of our common struggle to make Cyprus a place full of peace and prosperity.
