AKEL congratulates the Communist Party of Israel regarding the results of the Israeli elections

 

The General Secretary of the C.C. AKEL ANdros Kyprianou has sent today a congratulations letter to the Communist Party of Israel regarding Tuesday’s succesful results in the Israeli elections. The main part of the message follows.

 

“On behalf of the C.C. of AKEL I express our warmest congratulations to the Communist Party of Israel and the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality HADASH for the positive result achieved in the 17th March elections by the “Joint List” which has become the third biggest political force in Israel with 14 seats in the Knesset.

The attempt to exclude HADASH and the Arab parties of Israel from the Knesset has failed. The increase in the number of HADASH seats strengthens the most consistent force in Israel which is struggling for peace, equality before the law and the rights of the arab-palestinian minority, for social justice and socialism.

As AKEL, we know very well the heroic stand of the Communists of Israel and stand in solidarity with your struggle against militarism, foreign imperialist interventions, chauvinism and racism.

AKEL welcomes the positive results achieved in the parliamentary presence of the progressive and peace-loving forces of Israel. We express our willingness to continue and further strengthen our fraternal relations, as well as our joint actions for peace in the troubled neighborhood of the eastern Mediterranean.”
