Andros Kyprianou, G.S. of the C.C. AKEL meets Demetris Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Greece

Statements of Andros Kyprianou

16th March 2015, Athens

I want to thank Demetris Koutsoumbas for the very productive discussion we had. We are two Parties that traditionally have fraternal relations and I would say a great common understanding of how the modern world operates and about how anti-peoples are the policies being promoted currently by the ruling circles of the European Union.

AKEL’s assessment is that this is precisely where the problem lies and if we really want conditions to be shaped that will enable people to aspire to a better future and a better perspective the struggle must focus on the effort at changing the policies pursued by the ruling circles in the EU.

We will work together at a European level with all those parties who are struggling in this direction. I would like to thank you very much the Communist Party of Greece for its unwavering support to the struggle that we as Cypriot people are waging to liberate and reunify Cyprus.

akel kkeThe Cyprus problem is in I would say a critical and crucial situation and it is extremely important for us to have as much support as possible, so that we can wage this struggle with the greatest possible effectiveness. I want to express our gratitude once again for the very constructive discussion we had and wish the Greek people through their struggles to succeed in asserting and gaining a better future.
