AKEL condemns the attack by the Israeli occupying forces in the West Bank

 

AKEL condemns the fierce attack launched in the last 24 hours by the Israeli occupying forces on West Bank towns in Palestine, which marks a new escalation of the brutality of the State of Israel against the Palestinian people. With air and ground attacks launched by the Israeli army, which include hospital sieges, the Palestinian death toll is already in the dozens.

The attack on the West Bank at the same time as the flattening of Gaza continues, with 40 000 dead, confirms that the Israeli plan is to ethnically cleanse the Palestinians from their land. A plan that is being carried out with the support, cover and arming of the Israeli war machine by the United States and the European Union. The State of Israel continues to violate and flout international law, UN Resolutions and the orders of the International Court of Justice. The continued silence of the Christodoulides’ government and the rest of the political forces on the genocide that is taking place next to us will be recorded in the black registers of our country’s history.

AKEL again calls on the Cypriot government to join the forces in the international community that demand an end to the bloodshed and war, an end to the Israeli occupation and colonisation, a two-state solution with the declaration of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital, permanent peace and security for all the peoples of the Middle East.
