AKEL calls for mass participation in the protest meeting on the future of Akamas

AKEL supports the protest meeting organised by the Cyprus Federation of Environmental Organisations next Wednesday, 13 July at 17:00 pm in Nicosia, against the government’s plans for the future of Akamas, and calls for the mass participation of the people.

AKEL has always opposed the government’s scheming, which, through non-transparent and illegal procedures, is seeking to serve powerful private interests leading to the destruction of Akamas. The Akamas peninsula is a unique habitat for Cyprus and that’s precisely why it must be treated as such, whilst at the same time safeguarding the rights of owners of land and the local communities of the area.
