The ruling DISY party’s Press Office comments on the statements made by the General Secretary of AKEL provoke only amusement.

If its leadership really believed that “national issues are not conducive for petty-party gains and scoring petty-party points,” it wouldn’t have made such fanatical efforts to lead our political life into such a divisive polarization just to rally its own supporters.

The communication trick of shifting responsibilities on others and invoking “national dangers” to impose the silence of the lambs on those who are simply wondering how these dangers emerged is old fashioned.

DISY officials would do better if they were to ask the international community, not AKEL, the following. Why is that the international community and not AKEL, is assigning responsibilities on the Greek Cypriot side too for the deadlock in which the Cyprus problem has found itself? The DISY Vice-President Mr. Nikos Nouris should also address the international community to solve his queries.
