AKEL and the Turkish Cypriot Republican Turkish Party has set up Working Groups

The joint Working Group of AKEL and the Turkish Cypriot Republican Turkish Party (CTP) – which was established in September 2022 – organised a wide-ranging meeting of militants of the two parties yesterday with the aim of deepening relations between the two parties.

During the meeting, it was decided that thematic Working Groups of the two parties will be established in the following areas: Economy, Health, Education, Environment and Energy. The tasks and responsibilities of the joint Working Groups are to assess current developments and to take joint action on the relevant issues of each Working Group.

Yesterday’s meeting, which was hosted by AKEL, was headed by Toumazos Tsielepis, Head of the Cyprus Problem Bureau of the C.C. and member of the General Secretariat of AKEL and Asim Akansoy, General Secretary of the CTP. The meeting was moderated by members of the Bilateral Committee of the two parties Elias Demetriou, Head of the Rapprochement Bureau of AKEL and Fikri Toros, Head of External Relations of the CTP.
