A possible DISY third will completely consolidate the state of cronies

The case of Yiannis Yiannaki is symbolic of the entire style and ethos of power of those in government.

The leading member of the ruling DISY party with a forged certificate for his graduation and non-existent diplomas was appointed by the Anastasiades government to a semi-governmental organisation and subsequently the President appointed him Volunteerism Commissioner on a salary of 7,000 euros per month. Furthermore, when the fraud/scam was uncovered, the police – how surprising – proceeded at a turtle’s pace. It took nine whole months for the police authorities to manage to communicate with the American university, which in the end never saw Mr. Yiannaki.

The whole of society is demanding that the perpetrator of this fraud be brought to justice and that every cent he received be returned to the state coffers. However, the ruling DISY party is trying to cover him up, since he is one of their own and their own creation. Everyone must realise that in a possible DISY third term in government, the state made up of Yiannakis’ will be consolidated completely, who the Cypriot people will be paying for dearly. Meanwhile, thousands of young men and women of our country, who were educated after many efforts and sacrifices, find themselves unemployed, underemployed and working on humiliating wages.
