Trump’s statement on Gaza is a declaration to complete the genocide
Trump’s statement on the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza constitutes a crude and cynical declaration by the US to complete the genocide and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people. It constitutes a challenge to humanity as a whole and an unprecedented disregard for every concept of international law and moral principles.
This statement is of course part of the US’s long-standing support of the murderous state of Israel and their shared plans to redraw the borders in the Middle East, which is being implemented literally with the blood of the peoples. Now, under the Trump presidency, the US is abandoning all pretence and is dropping all fig leaves moving to incendiary escalation of its aggression and its neocolonialist perception of the planet.
AKEL condemns Trump’s statement and stands by the Palestinian people in their struggle to have a free homeland on their land, as defined by the UN Resolutions. The UN and other international organizations as well as all governments of the world must take a position and condemn Trump’s statement. The government of Cyprus – a country that is under occupation, colonization with thousands of its people internally displaced – has even more reason to take a clear position on the basis of principles. As far as those who spread theories that it is in Cyprus’ interest to submit to the US and Trump, they should look at the blunt US threats against the whole world, even against their allies.
