The General Secretary of the Central Committee of AKEL in Brussels for meetings

Today, Monday, 4 December, the General Secretary of the Central Committee of AKEL, Stefanos Stefanou, heads a Party delegation to Brussels to hold meetings on the 5th – 6th December with EU officials and Political Groups of the European Parliament. During his visit, Stefanos Stefanou will also participate in the meeting organised by the Political Group of the Left in the European Parliament (GUE/NGL).

The General Secretary of the C.C. of AKEL will have contacts with VILLARINO Camilo (HoCab Borrell) Head of the Cabinet of the High Representative of the European Union Joseph Borrel, NAVA Mario Directorate-General for Structural Reform Support (REFORM), LAGODINSKY Sergey the President of the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee, as well as with SANTOS Isabel European Parliament rapporteur on the missing persons of Cyprus.

In parallel, Stefanos Stefanou will also have meetings with the Co-Chairs of the Left Group (GUE/NGL) AUBRY Manon και SCHIRDEWAN Martin, as well as with GARCÍA-PEREZ Iratxe President of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats.

Finally, S. Stephanou will be a keynote speaker at an event organised by the Left Group (GUE/NGL) entitled “Turkish Cypriots and the EU: perspectives for the reunification of Cyprus” which will take place in the European Parliament. The General Secretary of the Central Committee of AKEL will be accompanied in his contacts by the member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and Head of the Cyprus Problem Office of AKEL, Toumazos Tsielepis.
