There are political responsibilities and the time has come to examine very seriously the existing situation in the public health sector, AKEL’s Head of Health Policy Athos Georgiou told ‘Astra’ radio, noting that the operation of the health system should have been automated.
Its crises are constant, A.Georgiou added, and public hospitals must be protected at all times so that they are able to fulfill their social role.
Furthermore, A.Georgiou went on to point out that the State Health Services Organisation (OKYPY), an organisation that constitutes the very backbone of National Health Scheme (GESY), cannot be unguided without a head in charge for so many months.
The Head of AKEL’s Health Policy wondered if it is deliberate that public hospitals are being left to falter in order to strengthen the private sector.
