The DISY government has once again completely disregarded public interest

The DISY – Anastasiades government has proceeded with agreements that bind the state without thinking and accounting for the public interest.

More specifically, without respecting procedures and institutions and especially without respecting public money, the government proceeded to sign a contract with an auditing company to conduct a study regarding the extension of the airport lease to the managing company and then requested the release of the required funds from Parliament. In other words, the government itself committed the state to an agreement without having the required fund (of €192,000) approved by Parliament.

Among the astonishing things the Parliamentary Finance Committee heard is the fact that the government terminated a contract with another firm that had been contracted to carry out the same study and which had already been paid for by the state! Therefore, questions remain unanswered as to why that study was abandoned and the same study was chosen to be carried out by another firm? Where not its findings considered satisfactory?

The government is called upon to explain its erratic behaviour and its disrespect for the public interest. It doesn’t need to confirm every day that it will go down in history as a government of scandals and corruption.
