The perpetrators of the repulsive violent attack on an African woman and infant must be prosecuted

The video of the beating of a woman of African origin by a man in Larnaca that has been circulating on social media since yesterday is shocking and disgusting. Violence against women, especially against a woman holding an infant in her arms, is under any circumstances is repulsive and inhumane. The perpetrator must be prosecuted and suffer the consequences.

AKEL denounces with disgust the beating of the woman. The police must report how they acted when they received the complaint from the victim yesterday. At the same time, the possible racist motives in the incident must be genuinely investigated given the toxic xenophobic climate that is intensifying in society.
